Bexhill Company flying high
High Tech company Torr Scientific is showing the recession a clean pair of heels!
Torr expanded their science-based operation and moved to modern business space in Pebsham, Bexhill-on-Sea in 2009 which is double the size of their previous operation based in Hove.
The company has grown 120% in the last 3 years despite the recession and now employs 13 staff. Torr is developing world-leading technology in ultra high vacuum optical and x-ray analysis to make precision products for clients including the European Space Agency SWARM project to monitor the earth’s environmental changes.
Torr has been awarded matched Government funding to employ a post graduate from Surrey University to help develop a pioneering project in x-ray analysis which will significantly increase their manufacturing capacity on the South Coast.
Mel Thomas Commercial Director at Torr Scientific commented:
“This grant supported project will deliver a market-ready technology in a much reduced timescale and we hope the graduate will ultimately become a key member of staff as our business expands.”
Managing Director David Bates is excited by the company’s future direction and believes it will stimulate skilled employment working with leading-edge vacuum technologies and he confirmed that they currently also have a vacancy for a Production Engineer.
