Scroobius Pip video shot in Hastings’ Priory Quarter
The video for a new single, to be released on 1 March by hip-hop band dan le sac vs Scroobius Pip, has been filmed in the Lacuna Place offices in Hastings’ Priory Quarter business district. The video can be seen on YouTube.
In the song, entitled ‘Get Better’, Scroobius Pip talks about the opportunities for young people to take initiative and make something of their lives. The video shows him leading a motivational workshop inside the Lacuna Place offices for a group of around 15 young people – selected from University Centre Hastings, Hastings College and Hastings town centre.
The video was created by renowned director Richard Heslop, who explains:
“I’d seen the band’s other work and liked their attitude. I loved the positive message of the new song and knew we had some great young people in Hastings that I could cast. We chose to film in the Lacuna Place offices as I fell in love with the architecture – especially the light from the big windows, which made it a film maker’s dream. Scroobius Pip and dan le sac came to Hastings to make the film and loved it, as people so often do. Hastings has that kind of magnetism – people visit and the place makes a real impression on them. ”
Scroobius Pip comments: "I was pleasantly surprised by Hastings. Having never been before, it was great to have a chance to walk around all the little old lanes and hidden stairways. And all the youngsters we met in the filming of the video were great, opinionated people."
