Fast-growing firm moves to Hastings' Priory Quarter

New Career Skills is the latest company to move to Hastings’ Priory Quarter town centre business district. The firm has relocated its head office to Lacuna Place, the recently-developed contemporary building, to accommodate its rapid growth and help recruit new staff.

New Career Skills trains career changers in plumbing, electrical and the new, fast-growing renewable energy trades. The firm was founded in 1998, has grown by around 30% a year and forecasts 80% growth this year. It trains around 1,500 people annually and helps them to find employment or become self-employed, with a pass rate in excess of 95%.

The company has 74 staff and additional offices and training centres in Southampton, Watford and Doncaster. It has been named one of the 100 fastest growing UK companies in the Sunday Times’ Fast Track league table.

Steven Wines, CEO of New Career Skills - forecasting 80% growth

Steven Wines, Chief Executive of New Career Skills, says:

“We are delighted to move into our new offices in Hastings as part of our business expansion plans. We’re forecasting 80% growth this year and are always looking for talented people to join our team. The Priory Quarter business district has great transport links and Lacuna Place was the best quality office building available in the area. It gives us the space to build our business and to train more people for new careers.”

Lacuna Place is in the heart of Priory Quarter, close to the rail and bus station, Hastings’ university and Sussex Coast College. Other companies within the building include Bibby Financial Services, Heringtons Solicitors, Michael Foster Solicitor plus, on the ground floor, a Tesco store.

There are still some offices available to let within Lacuna Place, ranging from a small suite of 775 sq ft, available on a flexible licence, up to 12,000 sq ft.

Lacuna Place stands next to One Priory Square—a six-storey office building recently purchased by Saga Insurance for 800 staff—and a second set of premises for Hastings’ expanding university, to be completed later this year.
