Projects - Enviro21 Innovation Parks
Sea Space is working to create a number of high quality technology and business parks on the outskirts of Hastings and Bexhill that will be sustainable in the way they are created and in the way they function for their occupants.
The Enviro21 Innovation Parks have energy, water and waste conservation strategies at their core and are targeted at companies at the cutting edge of environmental technology and others with a passion for environmental conservation, energy efficiency and ethical business.
The first development site will be South Queensway, opposite Napier Road in Hastings, including eleven high quality units, arranged within eight buildings, each providing a combination of manufacturing and office space. They have been designed to blend with the surrounding scenic countryside, including the adjoining Marline Woods Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
The Exchange centre at South Queensway will be an exhibition, conference and meeting venue with a sustainable restaurant. The Exchange is intended for use by the Park’s occupiers, the wider business community, education parties and the public.
A second Enviro21 Innovation Park site has already been identified nearby at North Queensway, which could accommodate a further nine business units.
Wind Power
Our aim is to make the Enviro21 Innovation Park at South Queensway —and future park development at North Queensway —carbon neutral through the installation of a single 2 Megawatt (MW) wind turbine.
A wind monitoring mast was installed at South Queensway for 12 months to assess the wind profile. The studies show that the site has an excellent wind profile and that a single 2MW turbine would generate sufficient electricity to match the demands of the occupiers at South and North Queensway with a surplus.
The maximum height of the turbine to the hub will be approximately 80m.
This project has received European Regional Development Funding through Interreg IVB project Future Cities - urban networks to face climate change.

Reasons For Development
Attracting companies in the enviromental technologies sector will create a thriving community of sustainable businesses that can enjoy all the benefits of networking and collaboration with like-minded colleagues.
This will encourage new employers to the area to complement the existing businesses and create a wider range of jobs.
The way the parks are built and operate, and the activities which take place on the parks, will make a contribution to tackling the challenges of global warming.
